【学术交流】比利时根特大学乔德文博士来校作学术报告[Academic Exchange] Dr. Jodewen from Ghent University, Belgium, Visits Our School for an Academic Talk

2026年7月28日,受西南科技大学i-Microbiome Lab邀请,比利时根特大学(Ghent University)生物科学工程学院乔德文(Dewen Qiao)博士到访实验室,并作了题为《富碳有机改良剂与生物刺激剂深层施用的气候智慧型土壤管理策略研究》的专题学术报告。实验室梁元可教授、邹兰副教授及各研究生参加了本次学术交流活动。

On July 28, 2026, invited by the i-Microbiome Lab of Southwest University of Science and Technology, Dr. Dewen Qiao from the Faculty of Bioscience Engineering, Ghent University, Belgium, visited the laboratory and delivered a special academic report entitled Deep Application of Organic Amendments and Biostimulants: Climate-Smart Soil Management Strategies. Prof. Yuanke Liang, Associate Prof. Lan Zou, and all postgraduate students of the laboratory participated in this academic exchange activity.

一、上午:专家到访与学术交流

当日上午,乔德文博士抵达绵阳,由实验室梁元可教授前往接站。随后,双方在办公室进行了初步交流,增进相互了解。

在办公室交流之后,乔博士与实验室硕士生李杨飞围绕两项课题进行了专业探讨:一是"蚯蚓粪源促氮微生物分离鉴定、模块化组装及其促氮效应分子机制"研究,二是"玉米颗粒识别计数系统(Corn Count)"研发。双方就研究方法、技术路线与后续思路交换了意见。

此后,在实验室人员的引导下,乔博士参观了主要的生物学实验室,了解了实验室的科研平台与在研方向。中午,乔博士与各老师共进午餐,进一步加深了彼此的了解。

I. Morning Session: Guest Arrival and Academic Exchanges
In the morning, Dr. Dewen Qiao arrived in Mianyang. Prof. Yuanke Liang from the laboratory picked him up at the railway station. Afterwards, they held preliminary discussions in the office to facilitate mutual understanding.
Following the office discussion, Dr. Qiao engaged in professional discussions with postgraduate student Yangfei Li on two research projects. The first project focuses on “Isolation and identification of nitrogen-promoting microorganisms derived from vermicompost, modular assembly, and molecular mechanisms underlying their nitrogen-promoting effects”. The second concerns the development of the Corn Kernel Recognition and Counting System (Corn Count). They exchanged views on research methodologies, technical routes and follow-up research plans.
Subsequently, guided by laboratory members, Dr. Qiao toured the main biological laboratories and learned about the research platforms and ongoing research themes of the lab. At noon, Dr. Qiao had lunch with faculty members, which further deepened mutual communication.

二、下午:专题学术报告

当日下午,乔德文博士在实验室会议室作专题学术报告。报告围绕"富碳有机改良剂与生物刺激剂深层施用的气候智慧型土壤管理"这一主题展开。

II. Afternoon Session: Special Academic Seminar
In the afternoon, Dr. Dewen Qiao delivered a special academic presentation in the laboratory meeting room. The presentation centered on climate-smart soil management via deep application of carbon-rich organic amendments and biostimulants.

报告伊始,乔博士介绍了个人的学术背景与研究方向——他就读于根特大学环境科学/土壤科学专业,此前于四川大学获环境科学与工程硕士学位,研究领域涵盖遥感与数字农业、土壤生态修复与碳循环、土壤微生物与酶活性、以及数据科学与机器学习等多个交叉方向。

在报告主体部分,乔博士从全球耕地土壤有机碳分布与玉米根系—土壤地气过程切入,阐明了深层土壤功能恢复与气候智慧型土地管理的科学必要性。在此基础上,他系统介绍了以根特大学土壤控制实验为基础的研究方法体系:通过土壤酶活性测定、VIS-NIR/MIR光谱技术与机器学习建模相结合,探究富碳有机改良剂与生物刺激剂深层施用对土壤理化性质及生物活性的影响,并展示了样品采集、光谱检测与数据分析的完整实验流程。

At the beginning of the report, Dr. Qiao introduced his academic background and research interests. He pursued his doctoral studies in Environmental and Soil Science at Ghent University and obtained his Master’s degree in Environmental Science and Engineering from Sichuan University. His interdisciplinary research covers remote sensing and digital agriculture, soil ecological restoration and carbon cycling, soil microorganisms and enzyme activities, as well as data science and machine learning.
In the main part of the presentation, starting from the global distribution of topsoil organic carbon and maize root-soil-atmosphere processes, Dr. Qiao illustrated the scientific necessity of deep soil functional restoration and climate-smart land management. On this basis, he systematically presented the research methodology established from controlled soil experiments conducted at Ghent University. By combining soil enzyme activity measurement, VIS-NIR/MIR spectroscopy and machine learning modeling, his team investigated the impacts of deep application of carbon-rich organic amendments and biostimulants on soil physicochemical properties and biological activity. He also demonstrated the complete experimental workflow including sample collection, spectral measurement and data analysis.

综合来看,乔博士的报告指出,将富碳有机改良剂与生物刺激剂进行深层施用,能够有效促进深层土壤功能恢复、提升土壤生物活性与酶活性,并为气候智慧型土壤管理提供了可量化的技术路径;其将光谱监测与机器学习相结合的研究范式,也为土壤健康评估与精准农业管理提供了新思路。整场报告逻辑清晰、内容扎实,现场师生认真聆听并记录。

Overall, Dr. Qiao concluded in his report that the deep application of carbon-rich organic amendments and biostimulants can effectively facilitate the functional restoration of subsoil, enhance soil biological activity and enzyme activity, and provide quantifiable technical approaches for climate-smart soil management. Furthermore, his research paradigm integrating spectral monitoring with machine learning offers innovative insights for soil health assessment and precision agricultural management. The presentation featured rigorous logic and substantial content, and faculty and students present listened attentively and took notes throughout.

三、报告后:师生提问与专题交流

报告结束后,现场师生围绕汇报内容踊跃提问,提问主要聚焦于实验室团队的高蛋白玉米研究方向,乔博士结合自身研究经验与大家进行了细致解答,现场学术氛围浓厚。

III. Post-report Session: Q&A and Targeted Academic Exchange
After the report, faculty and students present actively raised questions based on the presentation content. The inquiries mainly focused on the laboratory’s research on high-protein maize. Drawing on his research experience, Dr. Qiao offered thorough answers, creating a vigorous academic atmosphere.

在师生提问环节之后,硕士生熊伟还就玉米倒伏预测研究,与乔博士进行了专业的交流与探讨。

Following the Q&A session, Master’s student Wei Xiong conducted in-depth professional discussions with Dr. Qiao regarding the research on maize lodging prediction.

四、与黄晶院长座谈交流

当日活动最后,乔德文博士还与黄晶院长进行了座谈交流,双方就学术研究方向、实验室建设及后续合作等话题交换了意见。

五、活动总结

本次学术报告暨交流活动,为i-Microbiome Lab师生提供了与海外青年学者面对面交流的机会。从上午到访座谈、下午专题报告到与院长的座谈交流,活动环环相扣。实验室以高蛋白玉米为主要研究方向,本次交流中围绕高蛋白玉米等具体科学问题展开了深入探讨,拓宽了大家在气候智慧型土壤管理、土壤光谱监测与数字农业等前沿方向的学术视野,也为后续潜在的科研合作打下了良好基础。

IV. Symposium with Dean Huang Jing
At the end of the day’s events, Dr. Dewen Qiao held a symposium with Dean Huang Jing. Both sides exchanged views on academic research directions, laboratory construction, and future research cooperation.
V. Activity Summary
The academic report and exchange activity provided faculty and students of the i-Microbiome Lab with a valuable opportunity for face-to-face communication with an overseas young scholar. The whole activity consisted of well-organized sessions, including morning academic discussions, afternoon keynote presentation, and the final symposium with the dean. Centering on the laboratory’s core research focus on high-protein maize, participants conducted in-depth discussions on relevant scientific issues throughout the exchange. The activity has broadened the academic vision of teachers and students in frontier research fields such as climate-smart soil management, soil spectral monitoring, and digital agriculture, and laid a solid foundation for potential future scientific research cooperation.
